Back to Bloggin just a brief overview

Ok, let's try to get back to the blog. First of all since I've last written which was probably 3 years ago, a lot has changed. We've added a lot of products and services. First off we now have 4 full time route technicians that are completely trained on the Pure Pools form of chemistry. I have 1 full time repair technician and 1 in training. We've added a complete construction division specializing in Pebble and Glass pool finishes we've been fully certified by both Stonescapes pool surfaces as well as CrystalWorx pool finishes.

Whirlwind

Wow what a week it has been!! So the news I'm hoping everyone wanted to know......IT'S A GIRL!! We have a baby girl coming in September. We are so excited and feel so blessed. Plus Rachelle will have some back up now. A house with 3 boys has been alot or her it's time she gets her princess and I can't wait!!

It's getting WARMER

So today was the first day I think I came home with a drenched shirt in a long time!! Wow it's warming up fast. Most of the pools I worked on today were out along the beach and they are eating chemicals at a crazy rate!! If you haven't signed up with me yet the time is here!! Get those chemicals checked in your swimming pool and load your garage up if your not planning on hiring someone to maintain it. The pollen mixed with the hot weather is prime algae breeding season. The last few pools I've taken on have all had either a black or blue green algae and the residents didn't even know till I pointed it out and showed them. Please keep those swimming pools safe for the family. With the sun shining for so much longer in the day chlorine seems to be evaporating at a staggering rate. If you don't know already your gonna need to maintain your swimming pool with either stabilized tablets or granular stabilizer added to your pump basket periodically, depending on your set up. But be careful cause to much stabilizer can lock your chlorine and create an unsanitary condition as well. If you need help with any of this please feel free to call   (941) 876-3130.

Busy Day

So today was a crazy day. I don't know if putting pricing up helped or not but my phone did not stop ringing today!! Wow I knew it was bound to happen soon. I can see the site is getting more visitors everyday and my adsense ad is really picking up steam. This internet thing may just pay off. Still a huge learning curb with all the keywords and negative keywords and such. A little help with what all my visitors are looking for would be a humongous help. I'm trying my best but ad copy is not my specialty. Customer survice and pool maintenance is!!LOL Any tips or suggestions would mean alot. On a completely unrelated note today was the first day I got to hear my babies heartbeat in Mommies belly!! So exciting and we are so excited to welcome another member to our beautiful family!!! So anyways I'm really trying to make time to add content to this blog and hopefully get more and more visitors to it, so bare with me as I stumble through this new ordeal. And as always if you have a swimming pool issue please call anytime and I'll swing by and give advice or just fix it for you...941-876-3130.  I have noticed alot of  the new phone calls and customers I'm getting have some real issues and they didn't even know. 2 with black algae and one with a high phosphate issue in the last week alone. So take a good look at your pool next time the system is off and if anything looks a little different give me a call and we'll take a look. better to keep in front of the algae and phosphate issues than to let them turn into big problems.

Finally go pricing up

So I finally started getting my pricing up and published. I am very reluctant to do this as I feel the coldness of black and white on paper could scare some away. I am one of the few that charges for chemicals but the reason being is that I cannot properly keep your chemical levels ideal within a budget that holds me and promotes doing it wrong. As I stated in my last post every pool I've gone and checked recently is being maintained completely wrong on chlorine levels. The chemical prices are not astronomical but to do it right are not crazy cheap either. I could not afford to support my family and pay for your chemicals out of my weekly charge. I only collect payment for my swimming pool service monthly not weekly but I charge per visit to keep myself motivated to do an extremely good job and be punctual. Any of my current customers would tell you I'm always there when I say I'm gonna be and I stay untill everything that needs to be done is done. I will work more on the pricing page in the coming days as well. Please call me if you have any questions or need anything clarified. 941-876-3130.

Pool Chemistry Tips

I am still amazed at how every single time I take on a new account the chlorine and stabilizer levels are always out of whack. For some reason pool service companies and pool guys have no issue keeping pH and alkalinity levels in the good range but can't seem to figure out the difference between chlorine and free chlorine. Let me explain.... There are 3 types of chlorine on the market, liquid, tablet and granular. Typically I control my pools with a mixture of liquid and tablet and only use granular for staining issues and algae problems. Now there is also something we call stabilizer that needs to be present at a specified level to help hold the chlorine in the water and keep it from evaporating out super fast. Well when you use tablets you may have noticed that most buckets of tablet chlorine say "stabilized" that means it has stabilizer built in, Great, right? Well if used properly yes this is fine but if you are using tablets as your main source of disinfecting chlorine this is bad. If your stabilizer level goes to high it actually traps the chlorine in the water and makes it ineffective and no longer free. So a quick chemical analysis will show Chlorine at the correct level but if you do a few more tests on the water you will notice that your "free" chlorine level may be close to zero!!! This time of year I'm getting a few algae and spotting issue phone calls. I head over to the house and do a chemical analysis and low and behold the stabilizer is through the roof and free chlorine is non existant!! This drives me crazy. Another way pool companies are getting one over on you. Tablets are also alot less expensive than liquid chlorine and thus used by many as the main source of sanatization. Not for this guy. If your noticing browning or yellowing of your fittings and surface this is another tale tale sign of to much stabilizer. Please call me and let me check your water so you can avoid unneeded algae and phosphate treatments. Not all phosphates can be controlled by proper chlorine use but most can and by all means algae can. Why spend the extra money on these treatments when they should have never happened in the first place. Just a basic understanding of pool chemistry and these costly issues can be completely avoided. You cannot afford your cheap pool service if you have these issues. Not only will algae attack you will also run into premature equipment failure, and added stress on filters as well as discoloring of clothing and your pool surface and all fittings also weakening them. Don't let the splash and dash pool service cost you thousands of dollars.

Another week down

Well we got another week down and once again I am working late on a Saturday trying to get the website nicer and more informative. So it's been kind of a wild week in the world of Swimming Pool Service... I am still trying to predict this crazy weather, but the pollen is dropping and the sun is baking. Need to be on the look out for algae and phosphates. I am running across a few new customers that are finding it wierd I brush there walls every service and don't really understand how these swimming pool companies are keeping up on maintenance without even brushing the walls. How do you stay ahead of algae, phosphate and skale issues if your not doing the basics?? Oh well guess it doesn't matter I'll continue to provide a far superior pool service and hopefully gain many more customers after they have been burned by the value splash and dash guys. I can't understand having such a great job and not doing your best at it. We are out in the world in a constantly changing enviroment in beautiful backyards keeping peoples prized yard ornaments and family recreation areas pristine yet there are the few out there that don't see the value in doing the job right... Sorry to go off on my soap box rant just get frustrated about it sometimes. Anyways I'm working on putting some pricing up here since that seems to be what people always ask me first and I don't want anyone thinking my 50% off service deal is fake. I truly am offering 50% off my weekly service package for 6 full months. I decided that instead of purchasing pool accounts from other pool companies I would just offer a huge savings to the customer and gain good customers on my own skills. This way I have to earn your business and full payment. Figured it was a sound business plan. It hurts the checking account for awhile but so does paying good money for junk accounts.

A day in the life

Just thought I might give a little insight into the typical day of a "pool guy"!! LOL So I got up this morning around 6am got the family moving and breakfast then off to school for the kiddo's. After that directly to the supply house to refill the chemicals and get any bits and pieces I may need for the day. This morning as usual I was the only person in there!! As I was pulling out one other truck was pulling in. I then get to my first swimming pool and pull the equipment out to start the day off. How cool is it to spend all day in beautiful back yards making people's most valuable yard decoration shine and sparkle!!

Crazy Beginning

Wow what a whirlwind day. Didn't get home till after 7pm tonight. I took yesterday off since the kiddo's were home and we had planned our 8 year old's birthday party for this day, Which was a huge success!!LOL For the kids anyways!!!  So catch up has been crazy but not to bad. I just came up with a new ad campaign to try and get in the targeted neighborhoods I want to be in. I hope it pans out cause it is very risky and could actually cost me a fortune!! But I have to get in these back yards and show off my skills. So I'll go with it and see what happens. I need some good swimming pools close to home!! The pools that I'm servicing now are in the wrong area for me and the fuel expense is ridiculous not to mention the wear and tear on the poor truck.

Pollen in the air

So yesterday was no where near as bad as I thought. Although every one of my swimming pools that I serviced had a thick coating of pollen on the surface. That explains my recent sneezing fits!!LOL The problem is that the pollen can add phosphates to the pool so I made sure to brush the walls a little slower and added an extra measure of chlorine to each pool. You have to be pretty careful this time of year as your chemical check can look perfect on pool service day yet the pollen and acid in the leaves blowing in can bloom extremely fast. Especially with the very clear days we've had. Photosynthesis can happen faster than most pool services and pool owners could imagine. I try to use all that money I spent on college in a productive way every once in awhile!!HAHA If your having issues with a recurring algae especially after shocking your pool with chlorine give me a call we can clear it up pretty quick. A simple phosphate treatment can do you wonders. Also don't forget about your filter it's working overtime this time of year and needs a little extra attention.
